Youth Riders

SamTrans is a safe, clean and convenient way to get to school. With buses traveling throughout San Mateo County, students and parents have come to rely on SamTrans for arriving at school on time.

SamTrans offers discounted fares for passengers 18 and younger.  Find out more on our Fares page.

Youth can get Clipper cards free, please click here to get to the application.  Directions are on the pdf form.

In partnership with the San Mateo County Office of Education, SamTrans provides free bus fares for Socioeconomically Disadvantaged (SED) students, as defined by the California Department of Education by swiping their pass in the farebox.  Click Youth Unlimited to learn more.

Find which routes serve your schools.  The 2-digit routes are School Oriented Routes that are tied to schools' bell schedules.  The 3-digit routes are our Community, Local, Frequent, and Express & Limited-Stop routes that are not tied to a school bell schedule. These routes run frequently enough that students may consider them to get to and from school.
