Hidden in the heart of the innovative Silicon Valley lays the individual “maker” tinkering away in the garage or at the computer developing ideas and attempting to go where no one has gone before.
Later this week, those ideas will be on display for all to see at the 12th annual Maker Faire Bay Area at the San Mateo County Event Center and Caltrain and SamTrans can get you there. The faire begins with the special “Preview Day,” Friday, May 19, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and continues through the weekend on Saturday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Come and experience the “Greatest Show & Tell on Earth” with its numerous exhibits, speakers and performances. Discover how to build a robot or a drone, experience making electronics or virtual reality, or take the kids to the young maker sessions and activities while checking out a Delorean Hovercraft.
The event center located at 2495 S. Delaware St., is a short walk from the Hayward Park Caltrain Station. Caltrain’s weekday and weekend schedule offers regular service to the station. SamTrans’ Routes ECR and Route 292 have bus stops near the event center.
Maker Faire is operating a four free shuttle services from the Millbrae Transit Center (Green Line), College of San Mateo Parking Lot (Purple Line), Crossroads Parking Lot (Blue Line) and Oracle Plaza (Red Line) to the San Mateo County Event Center on Saturday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 21,from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information visit:makerfaire.com/bay-area/getting-to-maker-faire/.
