The new SamTrans service changes go into effect Sunday, June 20, removing school service for the summer and better aligning with Caltrain’s schedule at Menlo Park.
Route 286 will arrive at the Menlo Park Caltrain Station in the mornings at 6:57 a.m., 7:57 a.m. and 8:57 a.m., and will leave in the afternoons at 3:43 p.m., 4:43 p.m. and 5:43 p.m., giving riders 10 minutes to transfer between systems. Additionally, for Route 280, all east and westbound times will be adjusted by five minutes in order to improve connections with VTA at the Palo Alto Transit Center. Buses will now depart Stanford Shopping Center at 40 minutes past the hour, and 33 minutes past the hour at the intersection of Purdue Avenue and Fordham Street.
SamTrans adjusts its scheduling and service operations three times a year to take into account changing traffic impacts, travel patterns and bus operator availability. The adjustments help improve on-time performance standards and make the bus system run more smoothly.
Members of the public interested in commenting on the changes can submit feedback through the SamTrans website. The next runbook change will take place in August.
