SamTrans To Make Additional Scheduling Adjustments to Four Bus Routes

In an effort to further improve service to the communities the District’s new routes will serve, SamTrans will implement additional scheduling and service adjustments for four bus routes this week.

Earlier this month, the bus agency added four new school day-only routes and tweaked the schedules of several other lines as part of a regularly-planned service adjustment.

This week, the agency will shift trips to a later start time on Routes 60 and 61, which serves Carlmont High School students in Belmont. The adjusted schedule will allow students to travel to their first period class more conveniently and efficiently.

SamTrans Route 18 will also see minor changes. Trip times were shifted to give students ample time to walk from their bus stop up and down the hill to and from Half Moon Bay High School.

Lastly, SamTrans Route 280 will shift a morning trip to better improve connections with Caltrain. Route 280 is servicing a new neighborhood, due to the elimination of a local shuttle line. The increased service added time to the route, causing some passengers to miss connections with Caltrain. With the schedule adjustment, Route 280 passengers will be able to connect more seamlessly with Caltrain.

The changes for Route 60 and Route 61 went into effect this Wednesday, in time for the start of the school year at Carlmont. Route 280 and Route 18 will be adjusted on August 21.

Complete details of the scheduling and service changes are available here.

Three times a year, SamTrans adjusts its scheduling and service operations to take into account changing traffic impacts, travel patterns and bus operator availability. The adjustments help SamTrans improve on-time performance standards and make the bus system run more smoothly. The latest revisions to the four bus lines are part of that process.
