Ride Plus announces launch of new and improved on-demand transit app

Ride Plus, the on-demand transit service by SamTrans, is preparing for the release of its new and improved app, designed to enhance the booking experience for riders in Half Moon Bay, El Granada, East Palo Alto, and the Belle Haven neighborhood of Menlo Park.  

During the transition, Ride Plus is committed to ensuring uninterrupted service for everyone. Current customers are encouraged to continue using the existing app until Jan. 19, while new users are advised to call customer service at 650-238-5880 or book online until Jan. 19. 

Key Dates to Remember: 

  • Jan. 13: The new Ride Plus app becomes available for download. 

  • Jan. 13-19: Continue using the current app for booking on-demand trips. 

  • Jan. 20: The new app and booking webpage launch for all users. Existing customers will need a new account by this date. 

Passengers will continue to have multiple payment options to access Ride Plus, including: 

  • Clipper: Tap your card or mobile device on the reader. 

  • Exact Cash: Pay the driver directly (drivers do not provide change). 

  • Valid Passes: Show your pass to the driver. 

About Ride Plus: 

SamTrans launched its Ride Plus on-demand transit service in June 2023. It offers convenient and affordable transportation within two service zones: Half Moon Bay/El Granada and East Palo Alto/Belle Haven. The service gives riders access to local destinations within the zones and connects them to regular SamTrans buses for exploration throughout San Mateo County, as well as transit centers in San Francisco and Palo Alto. 

Service Times: 

  • East Palo Alto/Belle Haven Zone: 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily 

  • Half Moon Bay/El Granada Zone: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily 

Whether commuting, running errands, or exploring the community, Ride Plus provides a hassle-free way to travel.
