The San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) is looking to fill five seat vacancies on its Measure W Citizens Oversight Committee.
The committee has 15 volunteer members who represent a variety of community segments.
Currently, SamTrans is looking for representatives from these sectors:
-
Representative residing in County Supervisor District 1 (includes Burlingame, Hillsborough, Millbrae, and portions of San Bruno and South San Francisco; the unincorporated communities of San Mateo Highlands, Baywood Park and Burlingame Hills; and the San Francisco Airport)
-
Representative residing in County Supervisor District 2 (includes San Mateo, Foster City, and over half of Belmont)
-
Organized Labor
-
Private Sector Employee
-
Youth and youth transit riders (under 21 and interested in transit)
The application period opens Sept. 30 through Oct. 31.
The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) is responsible for distributing the millions of dollars collected annually as part of Measure W’s half-cent sales tax. As part of that funding process, the TA relies on the COC to ensure that tax proceeds are invested in a way that is consistent with the measure’s guidelines.
Applicants are reviewed by the district and then qualified representatives are brought to the SamTrans Board of Directors to appoint new members. The board hopes to fill vacancies by the end of the year.
