This weekend, SamTrans will celebrate San Mateo County’s Hispanic heritage at the annual Day of the Dead Celebration hosted by Casa Círculo Cultural in downtown Redwood City’s Courthouse Square.
On display at the event will be a newly decorated SamTrans bus with a Día de los Muertos theme. The unique artwork on the exterior of the bus was designed by SamTrans Designer Cheri West.
The festive atmosphere at the celebration will also include altar competitions, chalk art, live performances, a cemetery display, and hands-on activities such as a sugar skull workshop and Catrina face painting. The event will culminate with a lively procession and feature local vendors offering traditional foods such as hot chocolate, pan de muerto, and tamales.
Casa Círculo Cultural is collaborating this year with the San Mateo County History Museum and the Redwood City Parks & Arts Foundation to host the event.
