Fairgoers gearing up for their yearly dose of carnival rides, games and food can avoid traffic and parking hassles by taking SamTrans or Caltrain to the San Mateo County Fair Aug. 8-17.

SamTrans Routes 390 and 391 stop on El Camino Real, a couple of blocks away from the entrance to the fair, which also is served by Route 292. The fair is located at 2495 S. Delaware St. in San Mateo.

Caltrain provides daily service to the Hillsdale station, just a short walk from the fairgrounds and steps away from Bay Meadows Race Track, where the tracks final horse races will be held.

SamTrans will be on-hand at the fair on Kids’ Day, Monday, Aug. 11, with information about transit service throughout the county, as well as the “Art Takes a Bus Ride” bus. The Art Bus has been wrapped in the colorful artwork of grand prize winning artist Kevin Huo from Audubon Elementary School in Foster City. This year’s contest theme was “Go Green, Go SamTrans.”
