By Tasha Bartholomew, Communications Officer @tashbart Service Champions_Poster In 1992, the U.S. Congress proclaimed Customer Service Week a nationally recognized event, and as a result, it is now celebrated annually during the first week in October. At SamTrans, we are recognizing our call center representatives, social media officer and distribution staff for the work they do on the Transit District's "front line." “I always look forward to this Customer Service Week campaign, because we can come together to acknowledge and celebrate the important work we do,” said Rona Rios, Manager of Customer Service. “The San Mateo County Transit District customer service team works diligently on behalf of our customers to answer questions and provide guidance, and distribute customer materials.” Customer Service Week is an international celebration of the importance of customer service and of the people who serve and support customers on a daily basis. Institutions that participate in Customer Service Week carry out special activities to highlight how the importance of great customer experiences leads to the success of the organization and reinforces a customer-focused culture. This year’s theme is Service Champions, and features a classic sports-team design. The design includes the three reminders that Service Champions must embody: leading by example, achieving success and exceeding expectations.  In early 2016, the Transit District’s call center and distribution team had the privilege of serving thousands of passengers during the Bay Area Super Bowl 50 celebration. “Our ‘front line’ employees are truly the champions here,” Rios added. “I am extremely proud of my entire team and sincerely grateful for their dedication and service to our community.”
