About the SamTrans Board of Directors
The Board, whose members serve four-year terms, meets the first Wednesday of the month at 2:00 pm. Agendas are available approximately one week before the meetings. Comments to the board may be submitted to Board@SamTrans.com, by fax at 650-508-6281 or by writing to 1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos, CA, 94070. Any correspondence to be included in the Board reading file must be received by 2:00 pm the day before the Board meeting. Correspondence, including any personal information such as names and e-mail addresses, submitted to this agency will become disclosable public records.
The Board of Directors consists of nine members from various leadership positions in the community with the following composition:
- Two members from the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors
- One transportation expert appointed by the Board of Supervisors
- Three city councilmembers, appointed by the City Selection Committee. Each councilmember represents a judicial district in San Mateo County.
- Three public members, one of whom must reside on the Coastside, appointed by the above six members.

Transit Board Seeks Two Members
The San Mateo County Transit District Board of Directors is seeking applicants to fill two public member seats. The successful candidates will be two of nine directors responsible for setting policy for the Transit District, which operates SamTrans bus, paratransit, and microtransit services; oversees shuttle and other contract-operated supplemental transit services; and generally serves as the mobility manager in San Mateo County. Applicants must be residents of San Mateo County outside of the coastal region and must not have held elective office within the past year. Incumbent Board members may re-apply. La Junta de Transporte Público busca dos miembros
La Junta Directiva del Distrito de Transporte Público del Condado de San Mateo (San Mateo County Transit District) busca candidatos para ocupar dos cargos de miembro del público.
